THE RIGHT FLOOR FOR the right need
Some hardwood floors perform better in certain environments than others. Based on its intended use and location, select your desired construction type for the perfect balance of strength, durability, and beauty. Other items to consider are Species Performance (hardness), Surface Treatments (hand scraping, distressing) photosensitivity, and your finish option.
A beautiful all –real –wood alternative to Solid wood flooring. Engineered floors feature a thick, single-layer of hardwood veneer tightly bonded to a cross-grained wood core of maximum strength and durability in any area. Dimensionally stable these versatile floors offer the most installation flexibility as planks can be glued, nailed, or even stapled to the sub-floor. Some installations may even be floated or used over radiant heat.
Selected for its original wood-floor feel and durable thickness, Solid flooring should only be nailed to a sub floor on ground level or above that. Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of hardwood so it is more responsive to changes in temperatures and humidity than Engineered. However, its refinishing options are impressive and its popularity remains undiminished.
